Appointments
Routine appointments
Consultations are by appointment. You can make an appointment via :
- Telephone
- In person (during the opening times)
- Online
We try to keep to appointment times and are sorry if sometimes you have to wait. This is due to some problems taking longer to deal with than anticipated.
You have the right to choose which doctor you prefer to see but this may result in you having to wait longer to get an appointment.
Children under 14 should be accompanied by an adult during consultations.
Urgent appointments
Urgent problems
If you have an urgent problem we may offer you:
- An urgent appointment slot today
- A telephone call back
- Other appropriate advice
We cannot guarantee you will be seen the same day but we will do our best to accommodate you if the problem is urgent.
The receptionists may need to ask you for some information about your problem in order for us to help you. Please be assured that our staff work under a strict code of confidentiality.
It will greatly assist you in getting the most appropriate and timely treatment if you are prepared to give some detail about your problem.
Cancelling your appointment
If you find you no longer need the appointment or cannot attend for any reason, please use the NHS APP, surgery website, via your reminder text message or contact us in person on 01482 492219 to cancel it in good time so that another patient has the opportunity to use it.
Our text messaging service will send you confirmation of your appointment 7 days before and then a day before you are due to attend. When you receive this message you will be given the option to respond via text with CANCEL, which will automatically remove your booking, up to 30 mins before your appointment time.
Consult with a Doctor online
Electronic Consultations are accessed directly from the practice website, via any web-enabled device. Once the patient (or carer) has completed their questionnaire, the summary is sent securely to the practice via a secure nhs.net email address or via secure messaging.
E-Consult symptom questions come from NHS long-established and very powerful database application, developed over some 20 years by leading clinicians and world-experts in computer based interviewing.
Our E-Consult also effectively signposts patients to alternative care options such as self-care resources, pharmacy as well as services such as out of hours and 111.
Extended access
The Practice offers all registered patients routine appointments to see a clinician during evenings and weekends, These are pre-bookable slots only. This is a NHS service that will offer patients pre-booked appointments with GPs, practice nurses, pharmacists and physiotherapists at one of our hubs across the city.
How to Book an Appointment – To book an appointment, simply contact your own GP Practice on 01482 492219, during normal hours (8am to 6:30pm) and request an appointment on an evening or weekend.
Receptionists will triage calls to make sure you see the most appropriate clinician for your appointment.
Home visits
Please attend the Health Centre if possible. If you cannot travel, please telephone before 10.00am to enable the doctors to plan their rounds.
Your condition will be assessed by a clinician who will determine the most appropriate care management plan.
